How Indian is Kamala Harris ?
I see many of my fellow Indians went ecstatic on social media after Kamala Harris announcement as Democratic VP Candidate. There were even mentions of how it changes India-US relationship, having an Indian-American in the white house. However I would like to explain in detail how Indian she really is with few examples.
Indian Descent
“Today on August 15, 2020. I stand before you as the first candidate for Vice President of the United States of South Asian descent” Ms Harris said in her address organised by Indians for Biden National Council.
South Asian descent, seriously? Is her origin Pakistan or Srilanka? I have also seen the Indian media identifying her as Indian descent, from the same independence day address where she actually identified herself as of South Asian descent. When did South Asia and India become one? Isn’t she just using rich Indian Americans for funding and South Asians for votes!! We better understand her real identity ‘phony’, as Trump rightly calls her.
Standing up for India
She failed to stand up for India. Have you ever heard of Kamala Harris supporting India in tough times of terrorist attacks including the very recent Pulwama attack by Jaish-e-Mohammed. Instead she tried interfering with India’s internal matters of article 370 and CAA. You can actually figure out her real ideology of hatred towards India here.
Idli, Chithi and Color
I know many of my fellow Indians are connected to Chithi, Idli and Color. This is a bizarre way to connect your identity with others, how does it make someone Indian just by saying I ate Idli, mentioning Chithi or by color, when she actually never stood for India even when she was in position to.
Verdict:
Kamala Harris is just another American opportunistic politician hoping to get funding from rich Indian Americans and votes. Even if she Wins, It is incorrect to think that India will have a friend at White House, rather it may turn out to be negative. That is what should matter for India and Indians.
